Brisbane street style, fashion news & local designers
Thanks to Emerge Events, Ally Dunlop (stylist and partner in Rendezvous PR) and I, had a front row seat at the Emerging Designers show at the Teneriffe Festival. The Fashion Precinct transformed London alley, which included a fake grass runway with a white picket fence, VIP tables and Alfred and Constance’s pop-up bar.
I have blogged several times about Claire Goldsworthy and her contribution to promoting up-and-coming designers on the Brisbane fashion scene. Once again her organisation, Emerge Events, is taking on this challenge by setting up a Fashion Precinct at the Teneriffe Festival.
Look Brooke, the label designed by QUT fashion student Brooke Thomas is one of the 20 talented designers showcasing at the After Darkly Graduate Fashion Show.

Predress could not have prepared you for the 2013 Undress Brisbane sustainable fashion runway. It was an eye opening evening, with 3 runway sessions to fill, Undress Brisbane brought out amazing designer after designer.
Runway 1 featured street wear, runway 2 showcased delicate intimates and comfortable sports wear and for the finale, runway 3 showcased gorgeous evening wear.
Thanks to Deakin Estate winery BNE Style was invited to attend a Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Group Shop as VIP guests. With seating in the second row and access to the VIP lounge, it was a very different (and far more enjoyable) experience than the previous evenings where I had been in the photographers pit. Of course I still brought my camera to document this special experience!
The Brisbane Arcade parade showcased designers that call the exclusive Brisbane Arcade home. Although many of the garments are out of my price range and the labels represented in this show tend to focus on a more mature woman, it was still lovely to see the classy vintage feel and sense of fun some of these labels took towards their collections.
I had such a fun night with my fellow Brisbane bloggers, Ashleigh from The Blonde Silhouette and Juliet from Lace ‘n Ruffles. We sipped champagne and watched a preview of the amazing fashions that will be part of the Commbank Natural Fibres Fashion Parade each day during the Ekka. Stay tuned for more Ekka fashion!
The ivy covered walls of the outdoor area at Capulet bar held the first of 4 heats in their Fashion Fridays competition. This event showcases Brisbane’s talented emerging designers, gets audiences involved in voting and promotes Brisbane’s burgeoning fashion scene. Five designers or boutiques presented several pieces from their collection’s.
Web designer, blogger and photographer, Yolanda van Kimmenade (who loves doing shoots with local designers and boutiques so email for a quote or peruse the portfolio) and lover of vintage, locally made and/or sustainability produced fashion.
From Brisbane, Australia, relocated to Amsterdam for work and new adventures.
