Designers, bloggers, photographers and fashion lovers attended Heat 3 of Capulet Bar’s Fashion Fridays. As with each heat you can vote for your favourite designer on the Fashion Fridays at Capulet Bar Facebook page.
There is one more heat to come in November with the grand final in December. The designers are competing for a deal with Pretty Please Boutique, flights to Sydney for MBFF 2014 and the production of a new season look-book, all costs covered. So make sure you show your love by voting!
Ashleigh McCallum of The Blonde Silhouette and designer Jessica Tovey.
Showing off her trademark leather garments and edgy tailoring, Jessica Tovey’s designs were the most structured and appealing to my love to slightly androgynous fashion. Her collection is created locally using luxurious fabrics and quality craftsmanship.
Jasmin, Jon (co-creator of handmade jewellery and homewares label Sconnie and Jam) and Emma.
RAW Brisbane is a platform for emerging creatives to showcase their talents. Whether you’re into fashion, photography, art, dance or music – there is something to inspire everyone at RAW. This is the second time BNE Style has attended RAW, (the RAW Generation showcase was the last time) and the calibre of artists and performers was just as amazing as last time!
You have seen Ashleigh of The Blonde Silhouette on BNE Style before, featured for her impeccable style and as a guest contributor. This time she is in the hot seat, answering questions about her love of fashion and personal style which she describes as:
“Constantly evolving! I am a very feminine dresser who loves bold graphic prints, bright colour blocking and multi texture! My signature style sees me fusing classic luxe pieces with modern structured prints/fits.
When it comes to accessories I definitely favour a minimalist attitude and would rather make a statement with a luxury piece – ie, my favourite Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM handbag, simple yet striking!”
Thanks to Deakin Estate winery BNE Style was invited to attend a Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Group Shop as VIP guests. With seating in the second row and access to the VIP lounge, it was a very different (and far more enjoyable) experience than the previous evenings where I had been in the photographers pit. Of course I still brought my camera to document this special experience!
Having a photographer’s pass to the Emerging Designers Group Show was such a pleasure, seeing the future stars of the fashion industry on the runway, showcasing their fresh ideas, was exciting. Being in the photographer’s pit I had an amazing view of the circular runway.
The designer’s collections included lots of bright colours (such as Erin Hassall Designs who showcased her beautiful flowing kaftans pictured above) and fun accessories (especially from Molly and Polly who’s models had surfboards and snorkelling gear).
Joannah is passionate about fashion, her online store, The Gallery Boutique which is based in Brisbane, stocks labels such as Cameo the Label, Finders Keepers, Bless’ed Are The Meek, Kuku, Casper & Pearl and many more. I had a chat to Joannah to find out what she loves about fashion and how she strives to deliver a special, personalised experience to her customers.
It has been over 10 years since I last attended the Ekka, so when I was invited to have a day of adventure with fellow Brisbane blogger, Ashleigh (www.theblondesilhouette.com.au), I knew I couldn’t pass up the chance to rediscover my inner child.
I had such a fun night with my fellow Brisbane bloggers, Ashleigh from The Blonde Silhouette and Juliet from Lace ‘n Ruffles. We sipped champagne and watched a preview of the amazing fashions that will be part of the Commbank Natural Fibres Fashion Parade each day during the Ekka. Stay tuned for more Ekka fashion!
